Had major surgery on my gut once. Spent 10 days in hospital, two surgeons, room on my own, followed by 80% payment of my salary after I was out more than one month (80% second month, 100% first month out). Out of pocket expenses for me? 185 dollars. EVERYTHING else paid for. Broken thermometer, extra bottled water, stuff like that were my out-of-pocket. Once did comparison with teacher friend in L.A.
