{fray} received the bronze award for "Best Storytelling Project" in the NewMedia Invision Awards 2000. I was put under a spotlight by Adobe. I was honored to be interviewed in Wired News under the headline: New Media Renaissance Man. {fray} was selected as a winner in the Communication Arts Interactive Design Annual 5 in the Entertainment category. Magazine Interactive Media Design Review, June 1998 issue. {fray}, Kvetch!, and Octopus Messiah were praised in Print Magazine, May/June 1998 issue. The story, by Sam Pratt, about innovative uses of frames, said: "Derek Powazek is part of this cadre of young designers who have pioneered the use of seamless frames." {fray} was featured in Graphis Web Design Now, a hardcover book of "outstanding online design." I was the West coast team leader for Web 97's Cool Site in a Day competition. We won! {fray} was a nominee in two categories in the 1997 Cool Site of the Year Awards: Best Personal Site and the biggie Cool Site of the Year. {fray} won for Best Graphic Design in the WebINNOVATION Edge Awards, 1997.
