happy dad's day

"Father ... thank you ... for letting me fly this flight ... for the privilege of being able to be in this position, to be in this wondrous place, seeing all these many startling, wonderful things."
L. Gordon Cooper Jr. while orbiting the earth in a space capsule.

When Cooper said that quote, he was talking about a father of a religious sort. But reading it today, I couldn't help thinking about you.

Happy father's day, dad.

And thank you.

» The Mercury pilots were all incredible individuals.

If you haven't seen it, you should check out The Right Stuff - about those early manned US space flights and how all the Mercury pilots quit their USAF flight test programs and learned together about how to fly incredibly dangerous missions into space.

And a belated happy fathers day to my own Dad, who was away all Sunday.
