Just got this from Public Glass:

Public Glass is having a Holiday Sale this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local glass artists will be selling their work at very reasonable prices. There will be glass blowing demonstrations through out the day, and we will be serving up food and refreshments.

I took a beginning glass blowing class at Public Glass last February (it was a Chanukah present from my sweetie). It helped keep me sane while writing the book to go play with super-heated glass once a week. The little, lopsided, purple-swirled vase that sits on my desk still makes me smile.

I said it was little.

If you have a chance to drop by on Saturday, do it. You won't be disappointed.

» Ooh! Very pretty indeed. There is a reason that I still keep all my little clay/wire/random material thingydingys from high school art classes. There's just something about keeping stuff that you've made around make you happy.

*looking to see if they have glass-blowing classes around here!*

Gaming the system: How moderation tools can backfire
Sometimes all the widgets backfire, encouraging the very behavior they're designed to avert. The rules have a dangerous side-effect: they create a game.

  the slow glimmering descent
I've been watching fireworks there for years, but last night was different. And not just because it was clear.
